Something Important To Remember Before Going On That Detox Plan
Before you can decide on a detox plan you need to know why you want one. Many claims promote that going on a detox plan can prevent and cure disease, give you more energy, and make you more alert.
However, no matter which detox plan you choose or why, there is something very important to remember.
First examine your motivation for adopting a detox plan. If it's to recover from the effects of a drug or alcohol addiction, then by all means consult legitimate health care resources in your community, such as a local hospital or clinic. You do not want to detox from those circumstances on your own.
It that is not the case, instead maybe you want to alleviate pain, such as headaches. Or you might be suspicious that some foods you eat that contain mercury for example are responsible for your being tired. Or maybe you just want to lose weight and learn to eat healthier.
Doing a quick search of the internet will quickly show that detox plans come in several varieties: detox diets, colon cleansing (enemas), detox baths including contrast showers, and massage and skin treatments. All focus on helping your lymph system, liver, kidneys, digestive system, and/or skin to cleanse your body of toxins.
Here's the important thing to remember: no matter which detox plan you decide on, it is going to involve the use of water.
Water is the key component of liquid detox diets, water fasts, sauna, enemas, and detox baths. Even drinking water following massage is highly recommended.
It just makes sense then that water is the ultimate ingredient in any detox plan. And the purer, the better. So, because water plays such a big role in your cleansing program, you need to pay attention to its quality. You have two basic water choices in a detox plan: tap or bottled water.
You should know that the most water treatment plants add bleach to disinfect. To filter out visible particles they use sand beds. But synthetic organic chemicals remain.
Also, many contaminants such as pesticides, herbicides, cleaning products, chemicals used on lawns, pharmaceuticals, and gasoline are found in tap water.
If tap water is your choice, I highly recommend using a high performance water filter.
How much purer is bottled water than tap water? Most bottled water is sold in the state in which it is produced. Consequently, there are few assurances from government agencies that tap water is any less pure than bottled water. In fact, a report says that up to 70% of all bottled water is exempt from the FDA bottled water standards.
Where those standards apply, weaknesses still exist. For example, the FDA allows a certain amount of coliform bacteria in bottled water while fully restricting any E-coli or fecal coliform bacteria in tap water.
Did you know that the FDA also exempts from bottled water standards certain chemicals that can leach from plastic including plastic bottles?
If I were you I would plan on running even bottled water through a high quality water filter.
By now you should better understand the importance of using water of the highest possible quality in any detox plan you choose. Unfiltered tap and bottled water may introduce the very toxins that you want to eliminate.
